I’m so glad you’re here! Life can throw a lot of challenges at us, and it can be really easy to become disconnected from our bodies for a myriad of reasons in the process. As a proud queer-identifying counsellor, I strive to co-create a safer space with everyone I work with so that you are invited to connect your mind and body in a way that feels good for you. Whether that re-connection with your body is through mindfulness and somatic experiencing or making moves towards ensuring your physical body feels more like your own, it would be privilege to support you in doing so.
I prioritize actively implementing anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, queer-affirming, feminist, and strengths-based perspectives. I also am training in and regularly weave aspects of modalities like Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Emotion-Focused Therapy into my work. Prior to my years of experience as a mental health counsellor, I spent six years in the field of academic research in both psychology and social work. This experience gave me a great window into the human mind and nervous system; including the incredible benefits re-connecting with our bodies can have.
As a registered social worker, I am also qualified to provide hormone and surgical readiness assessments that have been continually accepted by medical physicians as sufficient information to initiate folks on the next step in their gender-affirming healthcare.
When I’m not supporting folks on their mental health and gender identity journeys, you can expect to see me doing my impression of either an indoor or outdoor cat. When I feel like an indoor cat, I love to read, craft, rock climb, paint, and twirl around a roller rink. My outdoor cat side loves to paddle board, hike & backpack, camp, and spend time with my chosen family.
